Book Review: Nothing Will Tear Us Apart (Uncensored)

So I just got done reading Nothing Will Tear Us Apart Uncensored.

The book explores the journey of Antonio and Wesley. Two headstrong men. Wesley an openly gay black celebrity with a net worth of $400m and Antonio his head of security also openly gay. Structurally the book begins in the aftermath of an explosive confrontation which immediately hooks your interest.

Full review after the jump:

It then regresses and takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride filling in the blanks which ultimate leads the reader to understand the why the book begins so explosively. A full-circle experience would be one way of looking at it.

The book explores some interesting themes, acceptance, insecurity, infidelity, ethos, trust, love, violence, low self esteem and family amongst others. It also offers an interesting take on the issues that come along with being black gay and made. Where the book was weakest was in the lane the author chose to describe lust related instances. Simply put it read like a bad adult studio production. Also it felt confusing at times as to whether Wesley the fictional character or Wyatt the author was the narrator role because of the way some of the lust scenes were overcooked in description.

Where the book was strongest however was when the reader was taken to the darkest places in the story lines and the characters' authentic reactions were brilliantly written. The scene involving the climatic exchange between Wesley's alcoholic lawyer friend with his alpha police officer dude is a perfect example.

Overall the Nothing Will Tear Us Apart Uncensored is a brilliant read which leaves the door wide open for the sequel which I will be reading! Be you an alternative spirit or not this novel will definitely leave a lasting impression.

Simply put, go grab yourself a copy here!

3.5/5 stars
