Prop 8 ruled "Unconstitional"

U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn Walker has ruled today that Proposition 8, a law that prevented gay marriage in Califorina is unconsitutional.

Judge walker concluded:

"Because Proposition 8 is unconstitutional under both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses, the court orders entry of judgment permanently ... prohibiting the official defendants [state of California] from applying or enforcing Proposition 8..."

My 2 pence? This is great news for the LGBT community. At the end of the day, whether ot not you personally see yourself getting married in the future, at least with this rule you have the option should you meet that one who is down for the long haul. After all a private moral view that same-sex couples are inferior to opposite-sex couples is not a proper basis for legislation.
